Prismatic Polygon

paper series

The Prismatic Polygon paper series is a body of twenty-five individual works on paper, completed in 2020.

Inspired by Sol Lewitt’s polygon series, Jay Walker’s Prismatic Polygon Series (paper) utilizes brighter colors and contrasting textures. In this series, Walker stretches the boundary of his work through a formal exploration of color, form, and pattern. In musing on how human beings have a broad color perspective, stemming from their basic need to search for food and fruit, Walker wanted to bring this simple yet ubiquitous lens to these pieces. With layers of brush painting for variation, the lines break out of the polygons in geometric visual play.
