Prismatic Polygon /sculpture Series

Prismatic polygons /Sculpture series

Evolving from a foundation of simple graphite drawings, Jay Walker’s Prismatic Polygon Sculpture Series translates the intimacy of a sketch into the vibrant precision of sculpture. Fabricated from cast acrylic sheets and laser-cut with exacting detail, these works engage in a deliberate optical game. Walker utilizes isometric perspective and contrasting patterns to deceive the eye: what appears to be a deep, volumetric object is, in reality, a low-relief sculpture sitting nearly flat against the wall. By manipulating color and line, the series bridges the gap between the two-dimensional drawing and the three-dimensional object, challenging the viewer’s perception of depth and space.
